Can I book online?
Click on the “Book Now!” button to see prices, availability and all the options for arrival and departure dates and length of stay (both weekly bookings and short breaks) without any commitment. Once you find what you want you can proceed with making a booking or can return to viewing the other cottages.
What happens if I need to cancel my holiday?
Firstly, we strongly advise that you check you have an adequate travel insurance / holiday cancellation policy to cover against the need to cancel your holiday. There are lots of competitively priced policies available and we can supply further information upon request at the time of booking if you need to take up a policy. Deposit payments are non refundable. If you have no alternative but to cancel your holiday, we require written notification, either by post or email, of your request to cancel. As long as this written confirmation is received more than 12 weeks prior to the holiday date, you will not be required to pay the final rental balance. If written request to cancel is received within 12 weeks of the holiday date we require payment of the full balance.
When is the final rental balance required?
The final rental balance is due 12 weeks prior to your holiday and once we are in receipt of this payment we will send all key collection details, full directions etc to you.
What deposit is required?
We require a 30% non refundable deposit payment to secure your booking. For our 3 larger cottages and for group bookings where several small cottages are booked we also require a £300 breakage deposit. All card payments are enabled for repeat payments of balances and/or security/breakage deposits or excessive cleaning is required.
What payment methods do you take?
We accept payment by debit or credit card (visa and mastercard only). There are no additional fees for debit card payments, and just a 2% bank administration fee for credit card transactions.
How do I order a hamper or champagne, chocolates, and flowers package?
These options will appear on your booking form.

Where are the nearest grocery shops?
We suggest that you call into the Booths Supermarket in Ulverston on your way to us, as they stock absolutely everything and also have a good cafe, making it an ideal point to stop and take a break before continuing the last part of your journey. Locally, there is a small post office/shop in Boot village, just opposite us, and in the next village, Eskdale Green, there is a larger shop which has a great deli section and offers a delivery service. Details of opening times, contact telephone numbers and all other supermarkets in the area are to be found in the housebook in your cottage.
Where is the nearest hospital?
The nearest hospital is the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven (Tel: 01946 693181). Directions to the hospital: Motorway access from the North and South is via the M6 exiting at junction 40 onto the A66, signposted Keswick, then heading West for 35 miles. After bypassing Cockermouth turn left onto the A595 and travel 12 miles to Whitehaven. Keep on the A595 ignoring the signage for the town centre, travel 2 miles passing through traffic lights and turn left at the roundabout. The main entrance of the hospital is on the right 100 yards from the roundabout.
Where is the nearest train station?
To reach us by train, Lancaster is the nearest main line station. From Lancaster you will need to take a coastal train to Ravenglass and then either take the 40 minute journey on the tourist narrow gauge steam train from Ravenglass to Dalegarth Station at Boot, or arrange for a taxi from Ravenglass to us.
Can I hire bicycles?
Yes, you can pre-arrange mountain bike hire from Marra Bikes & Boards, who are located in Nether Wasdale, just 10-15 minutes drive from the cottages. Call them on 07367 639189 for more information.
Which is the nearest lake?
Wastwater is our nearest lake and is England’s deepest. It was recently voted ‘Britain’s Favourite View’ on the ITV programme hosted by Sir Trevor MacDonald.
How do I get to Bridge End Farm Cottages?
We will send you full directions in plenty of time prior to your holiday and advise you use these over any satellite navigation systems, which will often try to direct you via a more difficult route over the fells.
We would like to stay for our honeymoon – which cottage would you recommend?
All our cottages for two are romantic, Hardknott, Stanley Ghyll, Whillan Beck, Wrynose, and each has its own individual charm and character, which makes them so popular with guests who come for their honeymoon then often visit year after year.
Do any of the cottages have downstairs bedrooms or bathrooms?
Scafell and Wastwater Cottages both have downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms. Scafell Cottage has a ground floor double bedroom with ensuite shower room with WC and hand basin. There is also an additional ground floor family bathroom. Wastwater Cottage has two ground floor double bedrooms and ground floor family bathroom.
Where can I park my car?
We have car parking facilities for guests hidden behind our cottages and spaces are allocated according to which cottage you book. Full details are sent to you prior to your holiday.
Where can I make telephone calls?
There is a public telephone box on the right hand side of the lane just before the Boot Inn. Mobile phone coverage is poor, however you can pick up signal whilst higher up on the fells or where the valley widens out of Eskdale Green, the next village.
Is there Sky TV?
Yes, every cottage has its own TV with all Sky sports, film, and children’s channels. There is also a DVD player and selection of DVDs in each cottage.
Is there internet access at the cottages?
Yes, we have WiFi in all the cottages free of charge.
What do I need to bring with me?
All our self-catering cottages are fully equipped and are like a home from home. You should only need to bring your clothes, walking boots and groceries.
Are there barbeques?
Yes, we have barbeques and utensils available for each cottage’s use.
What type of heating is there?
All cottages are fully double glazed and have full gas central heating. When you arrive you will find your cottage fresh, warm and ready for you.
Do you have laundry facilities?
There is a laundry room with two washing machines and two dryers, which are there for your use free of charge.
We have a baby, what do we need to bring with us?
We can supply a cot, high chair and stairgate free of charge. We do ask that you bring your own cot linen.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes, you can bring a well behaved dog, or two, to the following pet friendly cottages: The Farmhouse, Wastwater, Hardknott, Stanley Ghyll and Wrynose Cottage.
Are linen and towels included?
Yes, our prices include all linen, hand and bath towels, and tea towels in the kitchen.
Are there pubs and restaurants nearby?
Yes, we have two welcoming Inns in Boot village. The first is just 50 yards away and second only a 150 yard stroll along the lane. Both serve good home cooked food and real ales, and are child friendly. There is a total of five pubs in the valley, and a full list of local Inns and restaurants with contact telephone numbers can be found in the housebook in each cottage.

How many cottages are there?
There are 7 properties at Bridge End Farm Cottages. The Farmhouse sleeps 8, Scafell Cottage sleeps up to 9, Wastwater Cottage sleeps 7/8, Wrynose and Hardknott Cottages sleep 2/3, and Stanley Ghyll and Whillan Beck Cottages sleep 2.
